Program Leaders are Required to Attend an Information Session
QUALITYstarsNY, as an organization, is dedicated to providing early childhood professionals with all the tools and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality care to the children and families they serve. We know how important it is to make sure you are fully prepared with all available information before making a decision that affects your program.
To better prepare new programs to engage with the QUALITYstarsNY participation process, we will begin requiring all applicants to QUALITYstarsNY to attend an Information Session before they can be selected. This policy change will help to streamline our onboarding process and ensure new programs understand the Continuous Quality Improvement goals that come with QUALITYstarsNY participation.
This new policy will only affect non-participating programs, including those who have applied and have not had their application reviewed, and those on our waitlist. If you are using our online application to apply for re-rating, this requirement does not apply to you.
To satisfy this requirement, the program leader (or an administrator in a leadership role) must register for and attend a QUALITYstarsNY Information Session, either virtually via Zoom or at an in-person event within the past two years. Once your attendance is recorded, your application will be eligible for review.
FAQ
Can I still apply for QUALITYstarsNY if I haven’t attended a Session yet?
Yes! You can apply for QUALITYstarsNY at any time. Your application will be in our system whenever you apply, but you will not be eligible for selection until your program leader has attended an Information Session.
I have already attended an Information Session before applying. Will this count towards the requirement?
If you are in a leadership role for the program that is applying and have attended a Session within the past two years, our system will recognize your prior attendance and consider the application eligible for review. You can check your attendance status at any time here: earlychildhoodny.org/qualitystarsny/infosessioncheck.php
What if there are no Information Sessions available for the times I can attend?
We understand that running an early childhood program takes an incredible amount of time and energy, and we are committed to providing Information Sessions during times of the day/week that are accessible for early childhood providers. Our Quality Improvement Specialists host at least two Information Sessions a month, during morning, afternoon, and evening timeslots, and monthly sessions in Spanish. We encourage you to take the time to attend this valuable session full of important information about the QUALITYstarsNY participation process.
