Erica has worked in education for the last 20 years, starting as a Teach for America corps member and elementary school teacher in Baton Rouge. She worked in schools there and in Harlem for nine years—teaching, coaching, and supporting families in high-need communities. It was during this time that literacy and equity became the north stars in her career.
As of May 2025, QUALITYstarsNY and Aspire have updated the policy for tagging trainings that align to QUALITYstarsNY Standards. A training event must specifically indicate the relevant QUALITYstarsNY Standard(s) for attendees to earn those points in the rating process.
This month, Head Start is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The application for the QUALITYstarsNY Academic Scholarship for the fall 2025 semester is open April 1 - June 7, 2025. If you work in an early childhood program participating in QUALITYstarsNY and are pursuing an early childhood education degree or credit-bearing coursework, you may be eligible to apply for the scholarship!
