On January 15, Governor Kathy Hochul visited the Commission for Economic Opportunity’s (CEO) Community Resource Center, a Head Start program and QUALITYstarsNY participant located in Troy, New York. During her visit, Governor Hochul spent time with educators and children in the center’s classrooms and hosted a press conference regarding expanded state policies related to early childhood education.
The application for the QUALITYstarsNY Academic Scholarship for the spring 2024 semester is open October 1 - November 10, 2024. If you work in an early childhood program participating in QUALITYstarsNY and are pursuing an early childhood education degree or credit-bearing coursework, you may be eligible to apply for the scholarship!
QUALITYstarsNY is releasing revisions to guidance around evidence requirements for the Standards Inventory submission process, which will go into effect January 31, 2025. Learn more about the revisions and access the updated Standards Guidance documents to prepare for these changes.
On September 25, the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood-PLUS (MCCYN-PLUS) program launched in New York State to increase the availability of child care options for the state’s military families. MCCYN-PLUS extends eligibility for the federal military child care fee assistance program to all licensed/registered child care programs in New York State.
On February 1, Governor Hochul released her Executive Budget for FY 2024. The proposed budget maintains the $5 million annual funding for QUALITYstarsNY; however, a sustained, increased investment in QUALITYstarsNY is needed to safeguard program quality as policies are implemented to expand access and affordability for families.
