As New York State’s Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS) for early childhood programs, QUALITYstarsNY is committed to helping early childhood programs overcome the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19. Many programs across New York State have had to close their doors during the pandemic. To support these programs, QUALITYstarsNY has created a multi-part webinar series to help program leaders prepare to safely welcome back staff, children, and families.
The Considerations for Reopening Series includes webinar recordings and comprehensive Resources Toolkits developed for each session with accompanying materials and sample templates to help early childhood programs prepare for reopening. Sessions are designed to be applicable to all types of early childhood programs. The series is also available in both English and Spanish. La serie se ofrecerá en inglés y en español.
Series Sessions:
- Part 1: CDC Guidelines to Inform Reopening: Explores several aspects of program operations that should be considered when planning to reopen and reviews guidance from the CDC, NYS, and NYC for child care programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Part 2: Program Policies & Procedures: Examines policies and procedures that programs should review and consider amending when planning to reopen and provides example templates to help with implementation.
- Part 3: Transitioning to the New Normal: Plans for transitions back to the program, including how to support the social and emotional needs of staff, children, and families.
- Part 4: Supporting High Quality Learning Environments during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Demonstrates how to create developmentally appropriate learning environments that work for both teachers and children while still adhering to necessary health and safety requirements during COVID-19.
