Lois Campbell & Yates Daycare recently won a reading challenge put on by the Wakefield Library.
Wakefield Library in the Bronx challenged schools and students in their community to read 200 books. Lois Campbell & Yates not only rose to the challenge but surpassed it, with one student alone reading 100 books and four others close behind. The librarian, amazed by this achievement, tested Kevin Willie, one of the star readers, to witness his reading abilities firsthand. He didn’t just prove that he could read–he demonstrated that he is an exceptional reader.
The students’ parents are incredibly proud, and this recognition means the world to both the school and the families. Lois Campbell & Yates continues to develop strong young readers as early as ages 3 and 4 and remains committed to excellence in early childhood education.
“The success of this program is rooted in early literacy and language activities beginning with infants. Teachers read to children daily and expose them to the letter sounds and fingerplay. The consistency of the literacy and language activities results in children developing a love for books and learning to read occurs naturally.”
