Alicia’s Day Care Inc. is a family child care program in Shirley, NY that joined QUALITYstarsNY in 2018. With a 4-Star Rating, owner Alicia Ortiz has been dutifully focused on her program’s QUALITYstarsNY participation and worked hard to reach her program’s quality goals since day one!

We love hearing the ways our programs are using their QUALITYstarsNY participation to benefit the children in their care. Working in collaboration with Quality Improvement Specialist Diane Farley, Alicia’s Day Care has been a dedicated partner in working to meet the QUALITYstarsNY Home Environment Standards.

“QUALITYstarsNY has helped me…”

  • Improve our indoor classrooms with supplies, most of all with many PPE supplies during the height of the pandemic, which allowed me to stay open and serve families in need of care.
  • Add diversity materials to my learning environment to make Spanish-speaking children feel welcome and introduce all children to diverse cultures
  • Create a developmentally-appropriate outdoor space where children can participate in outdoor projects and in activities that stimulate a variety of gross motor skills.
  • Complete my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Deepen our knowledge and skills around business budgeting as a family child care program to strengthen our program’s fiscal practices.
