Quality Early Education for All of New York’s Youngest Learners
The work of QUALITYstarsNY is made possible thanks to annual funding from New York State. We are grateful to the Governor and state lawmakers for investing in QUALITYstarsNY.
In 2021, New York State allocated $35 million to QUALITYstarsNY from the federal funds provided in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which allowed QUALITYstarsNY to double its portfolio of supported programs to serve nearly 2,000 programs currently, dramatically boosting their ability to provide high-quality early childhood education to families across the state. However, the current state budget allotment falls remarkably short of what New York needs to support our children. A proper investment of $25M would help ensure QUALITYstarsNY can continue to support our current participating programs, as well as assist additional ones.

High-quality early childhood education is critical for the growth and development of New York’s children, and QUALITYstarsNY helps ensure that all programs have the resources and support they need to provide a high level of care and education. I ask that you increase New York State’s annual investment in QUALITYstarsNY to $25 million for fiscal year 2025-2026 to build a foundation for long term growth and to ensure that more early childhood programs and the families we serve can benefit from the comprehensive support that QUALITYstarsNY provides.”
