As New York’s Quality Rating & Improvement System for early childhood programs, QUALITYstarsNY assesses program quality and provides the support and resources needed to improve their program and better serve children and families. QUALITYstarsNY currently supports nearly 2000 regulated early childhood programs in all settings—child care centers, Head Start and Early Head Start, family and group family child care homes, and school-based pre-k programs—across every region of New York State.
Since a program’s decision to participate in QUALITYstarsNY is voluntary, families that choose an early childhood program participating in QUALITYstarsNY can be confident that their child’s program is committed to delivering high quality experiences for children and families. Better yet, parents will know that programs are supported with highly qualified staff and a range of resources to make sure that children get what they need to succeed, including developmentally appropriate classroom materials and furnishings, one-on-one guidance from a Quality Improvement Specialist, and professional development opportunities for their staff.
